Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) more popularly known as her stage name Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist associated with J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. Her first single was released for the label on Oct. 21 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she started to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012, with the release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her single Bound, as well as the mixtape she self-released, Five Finger Discount. On 21st of July the 21st of July in 2015 Omen featured her on Elephant Eyes the track"Sweat It Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then and wanted her to perform on Rihanna reference. She officially was signed to Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was a track she recorded with Cozz to record the collaboration album Revenge of the Dreamers II. In October 2016, she released her first EP, Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer on behalf of J. Cole on his single Change in 2017 and also was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. The singer also performed on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus with Bas the label's co-founders. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. A music video later released in September. On November 9 the singer released two new singles: the 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. In November 2013 she dropped No One, and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang together with Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on the 16th of November. It was then released as a single on its own in February 2019 to coincide with her debut album. The music video premiered on 20 February 2019 to go along with the track. Within one period of a week, the video had more than 3,000,000 views. She supported 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December 2018.
